Thai growth shackled by short-termism
By Toby Garrod
Category :Asia,Thailand
As the global investment community brings alternative investments, such as commodities, private equity, infrastructure, and property, ever closer to the mainstream, Thailand is retaining a more traditional approach to the asset classes due to a local preference for short-term investments, a lack of demand for diversified strategies, and a lack of capable onshore managers, Yingyong Nilasena, the Government Pension Fund’s deputy secretary general, fund management group, tells Asia Asset Management.

PENSIONS
Key advancements required for Thai retirement schemes
By Toby Garrod
Category :Australia,China
The best way for Thai pension funds to deal with the ongoing problem of weak adherence to the investment objectives of employer-funded schemes is to ultimately shift the decision-making responsibility away from retirement fund committees toward the individual pension members themselves, says Somjin Sompaisarn, CEO of TMB Asset Management and chairman of the Association of Investment Management Companies.
