New Asia-Pacific bank services group head for Citigroup’s GTS

Citigroup’s Global Transaction Services has named Munir Nanji as managing director, regional head, Bank Services Group (BSG), Asia-Pacific and Japan. Based in Hong Kong, he will report to Anthony Nappi, managing director, regional head of global transaction services, Asia-Pacific, and to Bharat Sarpeshkar, managing director, global head of BSG.

Mr. Nanji will assume responsibility for managing the BSG business in 18 markets across Asia-Pacific. In his new role, he will also be responsible for driving team performance, and enhancing both customer and employee satisfaction levels for Citi’s BSG business in this region.

Under Mr. Nanji’s leadership, the Citi’s BSG business will continue to build on synergies that support and develop deep relationships with regional financial institutional clients. He will also take responsibility for providing financial institution clients with Citi’s market-leading and innovative products and solutions. As part of his role, Mr. Nanji will also ensure that clients in Asia-Pacific will better leverage Citi’s global capabilities, platforms and infrastructure to drive revenue performance and enhance service quality.

Prior to his new position, Mr. Nanji served as Citi’s trade head for Africa and the head of global transaction services for Nigeria/West and Central Africa. For Citi, he has also held an array of senior roles including head of global transaction services for several markets in Central Europe.

Commenting on the appointment, Mr. Nappi said: “Asia-Pacific has been a huge growth engine for the continual success of Citi’s Bank Services Group. With his wealth of experience and broad understanding of the international banking sector we are very confident that Munir will lead this business to new heights.”
