AMP Capital’s Chief Executive, International, Anthony Fasso has been appointed director global clients at AMP Capital. Still based in Hong Kong, he becomes the first senior executive based outside of Australia who has responsibility for parts of AMP Capital’s Australian business.

This division is responsible for all global sales, global strategic relationships and joint ventures, client and consultant relationships as well as for formulating the design of leading edge products.

AMP Capital has decided that Hong Kong will be its main hub for Asia. As such, the company relocated from its premises in Quarry Bay to officially open its bigger, breezier office yesterday (September 4) in Hong Kong’s 2 Pacific Place.

“Geographically, Hong Kong is close to most Asian markets. Our investment professionals are well positioned to service clients in the region and globally. We anticipate European and Middle East institutional investors to increasingly target Asia,” Emily Ritchie, AMP Capital’s media manager tells Asia Asset Management.

She continues: “We will have Kerry Ching, Anthony Fasso, the new Asian equities team, the global listed real estate and infrastructure investment professionals and we are looking to hire a new fixed income person too.”

Kerry Ching joined AMP Capital (Hong Kong) on August 2 to focus on managing key client relationships along with institutional sales and business development. She has 20 years of experience in investment management and joined the firm from Fidelity Investment Management where she was country head, Hong Kong, responsible for the institutional, wholesale and retail direct business. Previously, she held senior positions at UBS Global Asset Management and Invesco.

At the time, Mr. Fasso said: “Appointing Kerry as managing director Asia reflects our commitment to deliver on our strategy of continuing to grow AMP Capital's presence in Asia. This builds on our recent establishment of a new Asian equities team based in Hong Kong and complements the global listed real estate portfolio management team already located in Hong Kong. Kerry has extensive investment management expertise and strategic leadership capabilities and I look forward to working with her.”

Furthermore, AMP Capital established its new Asian equities team based in Hong Kong on June 27, hiring three experienced portfolio managers/analysts and moving two existing team members to the region.
