Former China Merchants Fund deputy general manager Chen Zhe is set to step into the general manager position at BNY Mellon Western Fund Management vacated by Hu Bin, according to a report from International Finance News on Friday (January 11).
The speculation follows on from BNY Mellon Western appointing Chairman An Baohe to take over Mr. Hu’s position in an interim capacity on December 28. On November 1, China Merchants Fund announced that Mr. Chen had resigned from his station as deputy general manager for personal reason.
BNY Mellon Western declined to comment when approached by Asia Asset Management.
Established in July 2010, BNY Mellon Western Fund Management is a joint venture between Western Securities and BNY Mellon Corporation. The firm currently has registered capital of RMB 200 million (US$31.7 billion).
