Sean Taylor has joined Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management (DeAWM) as head of emerging market equities. He will oversee DeAWM’s emerging markets equity strategies, products and investment teams globally. Based in London, Mr. Taylor reports to Randy Brown and Asoka Woehrmann, co-chief investment officers of DeAWM.
Michele Faissola, head of DeAWM, said: “As investors continue to diversify their portfolios, asset and wealth managers increasingly need first rate investment capabilities across every asset class. Sean is one of the best portfolio managers in his field. He will be a key member of the global investment platform we have built to meet the needs of clients worldwide."
Mr. Woehrmann added: “Investing in emerging markets requires a high degree of skill, not least because of the influence of global volatility on the asset class' risk profile. Sean's deep knowledge of the country group -- acquired over more than 20 years -- allows him to take a holistic approach that incorporates global, local and sector viewpoints. By helping our clients allocate successfully, he will be instrumental in growing the 7.5 billion euros we currently manage in emerging market equities."
Mr. Taylor joins from Pioneer Investments, where he was head of global emerging market equity. From 2004 to 2011 he was investment director at GAM, responsible for managing global emerging and frontier markets funds. Before this, he spent seven years at Société Générale Asset Management UK, where he headed the emerging market desk before becoming head of global equity. From 1994 to 1997, Mr. Taylor was with Capel-Cure Myers as a fund manager for international equity. Before, he worked for James Capel Investment Management (HSBC).
