HSBC bolsters Asia equity research team

HSBC’s Global Research unit has announced a number of appointments to its equity research team in Hong Kong. The new appointments reinforce HSBC’s commitment to developing its leading research coverage across high growth sectors.
。 Thomas Hilboldt joins as regional head of oil, gas and petrochemical research, Asia-Pacific. He has more than 20 years of experience in the financial industry, most recently at Samsung Securities, with more than 15 years in energy research.
。 Tingting Si, oil, gas and petrochemicals analyst, Asia-Pacific, also joins from Samsung Securities. Ms. Si started her career in journalism at the China Daily as the primary writer for the newspaper on stories about macro economy and the energy market in China.
。 Jenny Cosgrove joins as regional head of utilities and alternative energy research, Asia-Pacific. Ms. Cosgrove has more than 15 years of experience in utilities and alternative energy research in the Asia-Pacific region.
。 Chris Zee joins as a consumer and retail analyst, Asia-Pacific, bringing with him a wealth of experience from both the buy and sell side.
。 Chi Tsang joins as telecoms and media/internet analyst, Asia-Pacific.
Earlier in the year, HSBC’s Global Research unit strengthened its metals and mining franchise in Asia by hiring Simon Francis, Thomas Zhu and Chris Chen from Samsung Securities.
David May, head of equity research, Asia-Pacific said: “These hires in key sectors, along with our hires earlier on in the year further enhance our Asia equity research franchise, and demonstrate our ongoing commitment to HSBC’s equity business.”
