KIC names Dong-ik Lee as interim CEO

Dong-ik Lee, chief investment officer of Korea Investment Corporation (KIC), has been appointed to take over from Choi Chongsuk as president and chief executive officer on an interim capacity. 
This comes after KIC announced the resignation of Mr. Choi on Tuesday (November 5). The Korean sovereign wealth fund is still the looking for Mr. Choi’s permanent replacement.  
Mr. Lee joined KIC in 2008 and was promoted from being managing director and head of private markets group to CIO on April 1, 2012. 
Prior to joining KIC, Mr. Lee spent five years as head of investments at STIC Investments, a private equity/venture capital in Korea, and from 1997 to 2001, he was head of the overseas investments team at Samsung Life Insurance. 
KIC had total AUM of around US$57 billion as of the end of 2012.
