Mercer makes key ASEAN appointments

Gaurav D Garg, Mercer’s regional president, growth markets, has announced that Lisa Sun has joined the firm as ASEAN managing director and market leader, succeeding Su-Yen Wong who has been appointed as senior advisor for Mercer and its sister firm Oliver Wyman.

Ms. Sun joins Mercer from Zurich Insurance Group AG and will report to Mr. Garg, as well as joining the regional leadership team.

“Lisa Sun has a strong combination of technical skills, sales and marketing talent, multi-functional capabilities and high calibre management and leadership qualities,” said Mr. Garg. “With these multiple skillsets, an innovative and customer centric approach, we are confident that Lisa will be able to build on strong foundations and enhance the value proposition for our clients across the ASEAN market.”

In the role of senior advisor to Mercer and Oliver Wyman, Ms. Wong will work closely with colleagues at Mercer and Oliver Wyman to develop business opportunities across the consulting segments for both companies. She will also continue in her role as Marsh & McLennan chairman for Singapore. Ms. Wong will report to Mr. Garg and Christian Edelmann, who leads Asia Pacific for Oliver Wyman.

Addressing the appointment of Ms. Wong to a newly-created role, Mr. Garg noted: “As we continue our journey to be an elite firm, identifying and serving client needs across our operating companies is important for us to bring full value of the Marsh & McLennan companies to our customers.”

Mr. Edelmann of Oliver Wyman said: “In the ASEAN market we have started building collaboration across Mercer and Oliver Wyman and are seeing success in jointly supporting our clients to improve their performance. To further enhance this collaboration effort, we have decided to pursue a dedicated focus on building our joint value proposition in the market; which Su-Yen will lead.”
