Mike Piker joins the Mercer Shanghai office this month as partner and lead Asia Pacific international consultant for its talent business. He is responsible for driving human capital international consulting capabilities in Asia to serve global and multinational clients. He will be working closely with consultants in Mercer’s other lines of business globally to offer and deliver multi-country and multi-segment projects.

Mr. Piker, who first joined Mercer in March 2010, relocated to Shanghai in September this year from Mercer’s New York City headquarters, where he worked for the global human capital business. In his new role based in Shanghai, he will be working closely with the talent business consultants and the international consulting group across Mercer’s retirement, risk and finance, health and benefits, and mergers and acquisitions businesses worldwide.

“Mike comes to us with over two decades of human capital consulting and corporate HR experience across a variety of industries and countries which is invaluable,” said Fermin Diez, Mercer’s Asia business leader for talent business. “His presence in Asia is well aligned with our growth strategy in the region,” he added. Mr. Piker’s previous roles include senior appointments with Syngenta, Alcoa and Cisco Systems, as well as Buck Consultants and ORC Worldwide in several regional markets and client-facing positions.

A native of New York City, Mr. Piker has lived and worked in eight countries. He has authored numerous articles and spoken extensively on global HR topics.
