AXA IM appoints Qi Sun economist for emerging Asia

AXA Investment Managers (AXA IM) announced on Thursday (October 25) the appointment of Qi Sun as emerging Asia economist, based in Hong Kong. He joins from the Hong Kong Monetary Authority where he focused on the Chinese economy and financial reform as an economist.

Mr. Sun is responsible for emerging Asia region economic research and market analysis.
As part of the research and investment strategy team, led by Eric Chaney, head of research at AXA IM and chief economist of the AXA Group, he will convey global analysis to Asian based clients. Mr. Sun reports to Franz Wenzel, AXA IM’s chief strategist based in Paris.

Commenting on the appointment, Mr. Chaney said: “Qi Sun’s appointment further demonstrates AXA IM’s ambition in Asia and expands on our knowledge in the region. Qi has deep knowledge of the region and is a valuable addition to our research capability.

“Our team, which is made up of 12 economists and strategists based in Paris, London and Hong Kong, provides independent comprehensive research on global macroeconomic environmental and financial market developments.”

Jean-Pierre Leoni, head of AXA IM Asia Pacific, added: “Research plays an important part of our role in supporting clients across AXA IM. The research and strategy team build forecasts and various economic scenarios on main geographic areas as well as provide analysis on different markets. This independent research helps our clients better understand the fundamentals for the region and the global outlook.”
