Asia’s capital markets expanded yet further into the international arena on November 25 with the launch of three new Asian equity contracts – SGX MSCI Thailand Index Futures, SGX-PSE MSCI Philippines Index Futures, and the SGX MSCI India Index Futures.

With the launch of the three new contracts, Singapore Exchange (SGX) further broadened its coverage of Asia’s emerging markets to offer a total of ten Asian equity index futures. SGX is the largest offshore market for Asian futures and options, based on the number of contracts traded as of June 30.

The region is expected to take on a bigger weightage in global benchmark indices. As of end October 2013, Asian economies made up 62% of the benchmark MSCI Emerging Markets Index.
