VinaCapital announced on Thursday (February 7) that David Blackhall has been appointed to the role of managing director for VinaLand Limited’s (VNL) investment management arm, VinaCapital Investment Management, effective February 1. Mr. Blackhall has taken over responsibilities from David Henry in respect to managing VNL’s portfolio of real estate investments. Mr. Henry is leaving VinaCapital to pursue career opportunities in Australia.
Mr. Blackhall joined VinaCapital in 2007 and has 28 years experience in property, design and construction, with the last 20 years in real estate fund and asset management. Prior to joining VinaCapital in 2007, he worked with a Vietnamese property developer based in Hanoi, and prior to this spent 12 years with Deutsche Bank’s RREEF Funds Management, one of Australia’s largest property fund managers. Many shareholders are familiar with Mr. Blackhall who was an integral part of the investment management team working on the reorganisation of VNL, leading up to the EGM held in November 2012 where a new three-year strategy was passed by shareholders.
Mr. Henry joined VinaCapital in August 2008 to lead the company’s efforts in developing numerous mixed use and residential projects, including the 260ha integrated Da Nang Beach Resort.
VinaCapital CEO Mr. Don Lam commented: “Our long-standing reputation as one of Vietnam’s leading real estate investment and development firms has been enhanced significantly by the outstanding combined commitment of both Mr. Henry and Mr. Blackhall. Going forward, Mr. Blackhall will be instrumental in developing our current real estate portfolio and carrying out VNL’s new three-year strategy.”
