Ex-Coutts portfolio manager Alton Gwee has joined UBS Global Asset Management as its pan-Asia fixed-income capability manager. Based in Singapore, he joined the firm on October 15 and reports to James Blair [a fixed income investment specialist with UBS Global Asset Management in Sydney].

Anne Anderson, managing director, head of fixed income Asia Pacific told Asia Asset Management: "This is an important hire, and shows our strong commitment to the pan-Asian fixed income business. Alton, with his solid investment and client-facing skills, will help UBS further develop our fixed income business in the region"

Mr. Gwee brings close to 20 years financial markets experience gained in fixed income portfolio management and client facing roles. Most recently he was at Coutts in Singapore, where he was responsible for portfolio management, sales and client service for private clients. Prior to that, he worked for Aberdeen Asset Management, where he held senior investment roles in the Asian fixed income team. Mr. Gwee spent the earlier part of his career as a trader at HypoVereinsbank and Citibank.
