China Southern Asset Management accepted the resignation of Investment Director Qiu Guolu on March 16, according to Mainland reports. As a result of his departure, the firm is to create two new positions – fixed income investment director and equities investment director – to ensure a smooth transition.
According to the Shanghai Securities Journal, China Southern AM will appoint the head of the fixed income department, Li Haipeng, to take up the position of fixed income investment director. The head of the research department, Shi Boyu, will be appointed as equities investment director.
Having joined China Southern in 2008 as assistant general manager and investment director, Mr. Qiu headed the company’s research and development reforms over the years and played a key role in bolstering the firm’s AUM from 89.1 billion RMB (US$14.51 billion) in the first quarter of 2009 to 98.1 billion RMB by the fourth quarter of 2013.
