James Hong appointed MD of the PWMA

The Private Wealth Management Association (PWMA) has announced the appointment of James Hong as managing director; he succeeds Nancy Cheung, who has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, most recently with HSBC Private Bank, where she was responsible for strategy and planning for the private banking business in Asia.

"James has extensive experience in the financial services industry, including private banking, fund of hedge funds, and China asset management. He is well experienced to help us achieve our primary objective of encouraging the growth and development of the industry in Hong Kong. On behalf of all at the PWMA, I would like not only to welcome James but also to extend sincere thanks to Nancy for her contribution to the association. We wish her well in her future endeavours," said Allen Lo, chairman of the executive committee of the PWMA and CEO of UBS Wealth Management, Hong Kong.

Mr. Hong has held a number of senior management positions, most recently as head of private banking Hong Kong location at Credit Suisse. Between 2004 and 2009, he was chairman of Greater China and Asia head of alternative investment and quantitative investments at UBS Global Asset Management. Before that, he was head of alternative investment strategies at UBS Global Asset Management with roles as CEO and CIO from 1998 to 2004. Earlier in his career he was a private banker covering Asia for many years. He is also a CFA charterholder.
