M&G Investments (M&G) has been granted a Type 1 licence from the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) in Hong Kong. With the licence, the firm is able to expand the scope of its marketing activities to professional investors in Hong Kong.
Andrew Hendry, managing director, M&G Asia, says: “Throughout its 83-year history, M&G has always been an investment-led business. This licence permits us to show to Hong Kong investors how our tried and tested approach to investment has benefited clients across Europe and attracted assets of more than US$391 billion.”
He continues: “M&G takes a long-term view, both in the management of client assets and in the building of its own business. Having established our operation in Asia in 2012 to service clients in the region, it is a natural next step to expand our marketing activities to fulfil the growing demand for our products among investors in Hong Kong.”
As part of the licence process, M&G has established a Hong Kong legal entity, M&G Investments (Hong Kong) Limited.
From its headquarters in London, the company offers active investment strategies across the principal asset classes of equities, fixed income and real estate. With offices in Singapore and Hong Kong, M&G Investments was managing $3.72 billion for clients in Asia, as of September 30, 2013.
