Making the most of volatility in both choppy and directional markets

07 April 2014   Category: News, Asia, Global, Hong Kong   By Asia Asset Management

Exchange-traded volatility derivatives, recently available in Asia, are answering investors demand for tools to manage markets from all directions. The range of indexing options available today – including domestic market implied volatility futures, first launched in 2012 in Hong Kong and Japan and then in Australia with the A-VIX last year – can potentially mitigate downside risk without giving up too much upside potential. With Korea announcing plans to launch similar contracts in the near-term, and Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) extended trading hours for VIX, “The Fear Gauge”, what’s the new tale for Asian investors and traders?

In this educational half-day seminar, hear speakers from CBOE – the largest US options exchange and creator of VIX – and other knowledgeable professionals on volatility, share their knowledge on topics important to those looking to leverage volatility, gain insight into trading tactics or execute new strategies during times of market turbulence as well as in directional markets.

Prominent speakers include:

  • David Blitzer: Managing Director & Chairman of the Index Committee, S&P Dow Jones Indices
  • Paul Stephens: Vice President and Department Head, Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE)
  • Brian Goodman: Product Development Manager, Australian Securities Exchange
  • Michael Mollet: Managing Director, CBOE Futures Exchange
