International law firm Withers has relocated Wei Zhang, a US qualified lawyer, from its New York office to Hong Kong. She joins the law firm’s Asian wealth planning practice in response to a growing interest for the US tax planning services for Asian based families.

Ms. Zhang joined Withers’ New York office in 2010, where she has been working on a broad range of tax, estate planning and expatriation issues for international families with US connections. She has also been advising clients on the IRS Voluntary Disclosure programs.

Jay Krause, Withers’ head of Asia wealth planning, commented: “We are delighted to have Wei join the Hong Kong office. As a native Chinese speaker, Wei will work closely with our existing Chinese wealth planning team to offer unparalleled legal services to the fast growing Chinese HNW community. Wei’s relocation marks the continued strengthening of Withers’ leading position as a global law firm with international insights and solid local understanding.”

Withers’ wealth planning practice in Asia consists of 17 lawyers.
