Singapore hedge fund Arrowpoint Investment Partners has secured investment from the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) and Seviora Capital, a unit of Singapore state investment company Temasek Holdings, according to a report by Bloomberg dated June 24.
CPPIB and Seviora Capital will join private equity firm Blackstone Inc as anchor investors for Arrowpoint.
The report says Arrowpoint aims to start trading on July 1 and will deploy more than US$1 billion within two months, with more than 50 employees in Singapore and Hong Kong combined, of which more than half will be investment and trading staff. Arrowpoint is looking to nearly double the total number of people hired by year-end to as many as 100, though some of them may not start until next year, the report says.
