Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX) has hired Lawrence Lau as head of debt market development, a newly created role in which he leads a new team to expand the bourse’s fixed income and currency business.
He has also been appointed as a managing director of HKEX, which announced his hiring in a statement on April 21.
Lau joins the bourse from Bank of China International, where he was managing director and head of debt capital markets.
At HKEX, his responsibilities include strengthening bond issuance and issuer engagement, and supporting liquidity and market infrastructure development across the debt market value chain, the bourse says.
He reports to Kevin Fan, head of fixed income and currencies product development.
