Japan’s Dai-ichi Life makes another impact investment

Japan’s Dai-ichi Life Insurance has invested 100 million yen (US$661,700) in CraftBank Inc, a Tokyo-based startup that specialises in providing software as a service, or SaaS, to the construction industry.

According to Dai-ichi Life, CraftBank’s software platform enhances productivity in the construction sector, supporting maintenance of domestic infrastructure and disaster recovery efforts.

“Through this investment, the company expects to generate high returns and provide financial support for CraftBank’s initiatives to enhance operational efficiency in the construction industry,” the insurer says in a statement on October 17.

Dai-ichi Life is one of the most active impact investors in Japan, having poured more than 17 billion yen into impact investment assets. CraftBank is the firm’s 13th impact investment in the last three years.

Tokyo-headquartered Dai-ichi Life had around 33.73 trillion yen of assets as of June 2025.
