Thailand’s government is expected to name the next secretary-general of the 1.49 trillion baht (US$45.37 billion) Government Provident Fund (GPF) by the end of this month, according to people familiar with the matter.
The selection process to pick a new GPF head is currently in the final phase, one of these people tells Asia Asset Management. Spokespersons for the civil service pension fund did not immediately respond to questions from AAM.
The search kicked off after Songpol Chevapanyaroj, the former secretary-general, left in February to become president and chief executive officer of state-owned Government Savings Bank.
Arsa Indaravijaya, the GPF’s chief investment officer and deputy secretary-general, has been the acting head since Songpol’s departure.
