Vietnam’s Dragon Capital promotes Tuan Le Anh to CEO
Vietnam’s Dragon Capital Vietfund Management has promoted Tuan Le Anh to chief executive officer to succeed Beat Schuerch, who will remain a director of the firm and parent company Dragon Capital.
Vietnam is “entering a new phase of structural reform, enhanced market access, and rising visibility in global capital markets” and the appointment “reflects a strong internal succession process” that “ensures continuity and strengthens our ability to deliver long-term value to investors”, the firm says in a statement on August 5.
Tuan, who joined Dragon Capital in 2008, will officially become CEO on October 1. He has held several senior roles through the years. According to his LinkedIn, he is currently head of research.
Ashoka White Oak Capital taps Goldman Sachs executive for CIO role
Indian asset manager Ashoka White Oak Capital Group has hired Hiren Dasani from Goldman Sachs Asset Management as chief investment officer for emerging markets.
Based in Singapore, Dasani will also manage the Ashoka Whiteoak Emerging Markets Trust PLC and Ashoka India Equity PLC portfolios, as well as play a key role in the management of the firm’s UCITS vehicles.
The firm announced his hiring in a statement on August 5. The appointment is effective August 12.
Dasani was co-head of global emerging market equity at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, a role he had held since 2017. He worked at the company for 18 years.
Oaktree Capital Management names insurance head for Asia Pacific
US asset manager Oaktree Capital Management has hired Phil Joubert from AIA Group as managing director and head of Asia Pacific insurance solutions.
Based in Hong Kong, he is responsible for leading the Asia Pacific insurance client segment. He reports to Greg Halagan, managing director and global head of insurance solutions, Oaktree Capital says in a statement posted on LinkedIn on August 1.
Joubert, who has 25 years of experience in insurance and investments, headed investment consulting at AIA Group. He has also worked at Oliver Wyman, EY, Natixis, Deutsche Bank, and Deloitte.
HSBC Asset Management appoints global head of real assets
HSBC Asset Management has hired Karim Ghannam from Singapore’s 8F Asset Management as global head of real assets and head of alternatives in Singapore.
He reports to Joanna Munro, chief executive officer of alternatives, the company says in a statement on August 7.
Ghannam was co-founder and chief investment officer of 8F Asset Management. He has 25 years of experience and has also worked at Deutsche Bank and Argan Capital.
Prudential Hong Kong names trio to C-suite
Prudential Hong Kong has appointed three C-suite executives.
Brain Chan was hired as chief financial officer. He joins from Sun Life Hong Kong where he was chief risk officer and chief actuary. He isn’t new to Prudential, having worked at the firm from 2007 to 2021.
Viola Chan was promoted from head of people advisory and implementation to chief human resources officer, and Alok Jha joins from Prudential Group as chief strategy and transformation officer.
The trio will serve as members of the insurer’s Hong Kong executive committee. They report to Lawrence Lam, the chief executive officer, as well as their respective global function heads.
