Franklin Templeton appoints two regional chiefs to head new global unit
US asset manager Franklin Templeton has appointed Tariq Ahmad and Sandeep Singh to co-lead its newly created global institutions group, on top of their respective existing roles as head of Asia Pacific, and head of Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India.
The new group is aimed at strengthening the company’s business with central banks and sovereign wealth funds, a segment that Global SWF estimates collectively manages US$30 trillion of assets.
As co-leads of the group, Ahmad and Singh will be responsible for tailoring investment solutions aligned with the specific mandates of central banks or sovereign wealth funds, Franklin Templeton says in a statement on May 27.
Prudential names Rajeev Mittal as CEO of Eastspring
UK insurer Prudential plc has tapped Rajeev Mittal, former managing director at Fidelity International, as chief executive officer of Eastspring Investments, its Singapore-based asset management unit.
Mittal’s appointment is effective July 1 and he will report to Anil Wadhwani, Prudential’s CEO.
He succeeds Bill Maldonado, who is retiring and returning to the UK, Prudential says in a statement on May 23.
Mittal was managing director at Fidelity International from 2019 until last November.
Before Fidelity, he was senior managing director and regional CEO for Asia Pacific at PineBridge Investments.
Paragon Capital Management hires new managing director
Singapore asset manager Paragon Capital Management has hired Trevor Lau as managing director and strategist.
Based in Singapore, he reports to Paul Lee, co-founder, chief executive officer and chief investment officer, and Irene Ng, chief operations officer and compliance/risk officer, according to a posting on Paragon Capital’s LinkedIn account.
Lau has held senior roles at Credit Suisse and UBS, as well as at Abu Dhabi-based Azura Partners.
Julius Baer appoints co-heads of global asset class specialists
Julius Baer has appointed Rishabh Saksena and Marco Murgida as co-heads of the Swiss private bank’s global asset class specialists unit.
The duo announced their appointments through their respective LinkedIn accounts.
Based in Singapore, Saksena was most recently head of investment specialists for Asia at the bank, while Switzerland-based Murgida was head of markets solutions and sales, according to information in their LinkedIn accounts.
