Singapore-based Eastspring Investments, the US$216 billion asset management arm of Prudential plc, has hired Vis Nayar from HSBC Asset Management as chief investment officer.
The appointment is effective June 3 and he will report to Chief Executive Officer Bill Maldonado, Eastspring says in a statement on February 23. He will also join the company’s executive management committee.
The position became vacant when Maldonado was promoted from CIO to CEO last September. He has been serving as interim CIO since then.
Nayar is a 25-year veteran of HSBC Asset Management where he has held senior roles, most recently as global CIO for equities.
“Vis’ experience and expertise, combined with his ability in driving a high-performance culture, will bolster our capabilities and strengthen our investment offerings. His appointment embodies our commitment to delivering continued investment excellence for our clients,” Maldonado says in the statement.
