Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX) has tapped Jalal Almarhoon from BNP Paribas as managing director and chief regional representative for the Middle East.
He will lead HKEX’s engagement in Saudi Arabia and across the Middle East from his base in the bourse’s new office in Riyadh.
He will work closely with HKEX teams in Hong Kong and across its global network to “strengthen capital market connectivity between Hong Kong and the Middle East”, the bourse says in a statement on February 12.
He reports to Johnson Chui, the bourse’s head of global issuer services.
Almarhoon was managing director and head of strategic corporate coverage in Saudi Arabia at BNP Paribas, and head of corporate coverage at Société Générale in the Middle Eastern nation before that.
