Hong Kong asset manager Value Partners Group has hired David Wong from BlackRock Inc. as chief risk officer and managing director.
Based in Hong Kong, he will be responsible for managing and overseeing the risk management functions of Value Partners’ headquarters in the city and its overseas offices, the company says in a statement on February 28, when the appointment took effect.
Wong was a managing director and regional head of internal audit for Asia Pacific at BlackRock. Prior to that, he was regional chief risk officer at HSBC Global Asset Management.
He reports to Value Partners President June Wong who says in the statement that he “brings to the group over two decades of experience in the financial markets, and will provide strategic direction, functional leadership and in-depth technical and operational expertise on the best practices of risk management”.
Value Partners had US$9.3 billion of assets under management as of January 2022.
