Indonesian sovereign wealth fund Danantara has hired Nadine Zamira Syarief from local pulp and paper producer APRIL Group for a newly-created position as head of sustainability.
Syarief announced her appointment in a Linkedin posting on October 20, saying that she will oversee integration of environmental, social and governance principles across Danantara’s investment portfolio, and work to align investments with Indonesia’s climate commitments and sustainable development goals.
According to her Linkedin profile, she was senior manager of sustainability and ESG at APRIL Group, and has also worked for conservation group WWF, certification body Rainforest Alliance, and the United Nations Development Programme.
She also co-founded LeafPlus, a nonprofit that focuses on sustainability literacy and youth empowerment.
Launched in February, Danantara manages government-owned companies with combined assets of more than US$900 billion.
