US asset manager Northern Trust has hired Alvin Chia from consulting firm Bain & Company as head of digital assets innovation for Asia Pacific.
Chia will work closely with industry bodies, financial technology firms, regulators and government entities to “positively influence market change”, Northern Trust says in a statement on November 14.
Based in Singapore, he reports to Justin Chapman, global head of digital assets and financial markets.
Chia was the expert senior manager of innovation at Bain & Co. Prior to that, he was vice president of innovation at Singapore’s DBS Bank.
Chicago-based Northern Trust had US$1.2 trillion of assets under management as of end-September.
