The Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation has tapped Qing Ding from ANZ Investments for a newly-created role as head of portfolio strategy and research at the NZ$90 billion (US$53.5 billion) sovereign wealth fund.
Her job is to help ensure that NZ Super’s investment decisions “fully consider current market conditions as well as the fund’s long-term beliefs, structural advantages and investment objectives”, Will Goodwin, co-chief investment officer of the Guardians, says in a statement on February 13.
Ding is not a newcomer to the Guardians, where she worked for seven years as a portfolio manager for tactical credit and a senior investment strategist.
She left in 2024 to become head of asset allocation at ANZ Investments.
According to Goodwin, Ding’s skills and experience “will help us to construct the right portfolio to meet our mandates and continue to deliver strong returns for all New Zealanders over the long run”.
