Scottish asset manager abrdn has hired Vivian Tang from First Sentier Investors for a newly created position as head of institutional clients for Asia Pacific as the company looks to grow in the region.
Based in Hong Kong, she will lead a team responsible for developing and delivering “forward-thinking” investment outcomes for the clients, abrdn says in a statement on February 7.
Her appointment is effective March 22 and she will report to Rene Buehlmann, the Asia Pacific chief executive officer.
According to Buehlmann, abrdn is “committed to being a leader in sustainable investments in the region”.
“Vivian joining is part of our ongoing commitment to grow our presence in the Asia Pacific,” he says in the statement.
Tang was head of distribution for North Asia at First Sentier Investors, and before that, director of distribution, asset management at Credit Suisse.
Edinburgh-based abrdn had £532 billion (US$720.06 billion) of assets as of June 2021.
