Singapore-based Eastspring Investments’ Chief Executive Officer Seck Wai-Kwong is retiring after four years, and Chief Investment Officer Bill Maldonado has been appointed as interim head of the Asian investment arm of UK insurer Prudential plc.
Seck will remain with Eastspring until the end of June to ensure a smooth transition, the company says in a statement on April 18.
According to Eastpring, Maldonado is “well positioned to take on the interim chief executive officer role having worked closely with Wai-Kwong and the executive team to deliver on the firm’s corporate growth strategy”.
Maldonado, who will remain as CIO in order to focus on investment performance, chairs Eastspring’s executive management committee and reports to Prudential CEO Anil Wadhwani.
He joined the company from HSBC Global Asset Management in August 2021 as head of equities and was promoted to CIO in June 2022.
Eastspring had US$222 billion of assets under management as of end-2022.
