Man GLG, the discretionary investment unit of UK asset manager Man Group plc, has hired two former portfolio managers from Hong Kong’s ArchiTech Capital for its European long-short investment team.
Irene Liaw has been appointed as a portfolio manager in the team, focusing on Asia technology, media and telecommunication, and Simpson Wong has been named as senior analyst, the company says in a statement on March 5.
They are both based in Hong Kong, and will report to Neil Mason, head of European long-short equity.
Ms. Liaw was previously chief investment officer and portfolio manager at ArchiTech Capital, where Mr. Wong was also a portfolio manager.
“We are continuously seeking to enhance our multi-manager long-short equity platform in a way that delivers value for our clients” and Ms. Liaw brings “a distinct set of skills” and over 20 years of experience in portfolio management to the job, Mr. Mason says in the statement.
Man GLG had US$31.6 billion of funds under management at the end of 2019.
