State Street Corporation has hired Spiros Giannaros, formerly the global head of enterprise data management at information provider IHS Markit, for the newly-created post of executive vice president and head of platform strategies.
He will be responsible for ensuring an integrated and coordinated approach between State Street’s product offerings, its front-to-back platform development, and the data that is managed, the company says in a statement on June 7.
Mr. Giannaros reports to State Street’s Chief Operating Officer Lou Maiuri, who says clients are looking to manage costs, pursue growth and deliver returns amid “extremely challenging market conditions”.
"We are building the industry’s first front-to-back solution to help them achieve their objectives, and we are delighted to welcome Spiros to our team in support of this strategy...With his experience we are confident he will add great value to our team internally, as well as to our clients around the world,” Mr. Maiuri says in the statement.
Prior to his stint at IHS Markit, Mr. Giannaros was a managing director for the Americas at software company Charles River Development.
Boston-headquartered State Street had US$2.8 trillion of assets under management as at March 31, 2019.
