US asset manager Capital Group has appointed Jean Tan as marketing director for Singapore and Southeast Asia, a newly created role in which she will help bolster awareness of the company’s brand as it expands in the region.
She is based in Singapore and reports to Hannah Ayme, managing director of financial intermediaries marketing for Europe and Asia.
Ms. Ayme says the company is "delighted" to welcome Ms. Tan as "she brings a wealth of experience in the asset management and financial industry and will play a critical role in supporting the growth of our business".
"Singapore is one of Capital Group’s core markets. Jean’s appointment reinforces our commitment to continue expanding and further bolstering Capital Group’s marketing capabilities to raise our brand and provide stronger support to our clients in Singapore and Southeast Asia," Ms. Ayme says in a statement on June 11.
A Capital Group spokesperson tells Asia Asset Management that the tasks involved in the role were previously handled by team members in Singapore and Hong Kong, and that the position was created as part of the company’s ongoing business expansion in Southeast Asia.
Ms. Tan joins Capital Group from French asset manager Natixis Investment Managers, where she was the regional head of marketing. She has also held senior marketing and strategy roles at UOB Asset Management and the Monetary Authority of Singapore, the city state’s central bank.
Los Angeles-based Capital Group had US$1.86 trillion of assets under management as at end-March 2019.
