Natixis Investment Managers (Natixis IM) has hired Diane Poon as head of wholesale for Southeast Asia ex-Singapore, a newly-created position in which she will be responsible for expanding the French company’s wholesale business in the region.

The company also appointed Bonnie Wan as vice president of distribution marketing, responsible for assisting the wholesale and retail sales teams in Singapore, Southeast Asia and Hong Kong.

Ms. Poon is the former vice president of global wealth management at Pacific Investment Management Co., or Pimco, while Ms. Wan has worked at several global asset managers, including UBS Asset Management, BNP Paribas Asset Management, Eastspring Investments and BlackRock.

Both are based in Singapore.

"Markets like Thailand and Malaysia present increasing growth prospects and are characterised by a relatively low adoption rate for investment products, as well as a large and young population with a growing middle-income segment," Natixis IM says in a statement on August 29 announcing the appointments.

Madeline Ho, Natixis IM’s executive managing director, head of wholesale fund distribution for Asia Pacific, says the new appointees’ expertise will "further strengthen our position in the wholesale business, especially in the Southeast Asia region".

“Over the past three years, we have seen some of our clients, particularly private banks, expanding their businesses in this growing and dynamic region and we intend to continually enhance our offerings and grow in tandem with these clients,” Ms. Ho says in the statement.

Paris-based Natixis IM had US$960.3 billion of assets under management as at March 31, 2019.
