UK asset manager Schroders plc has promoted Francine Wu to chairman of its Taiwan unit, assuming the responsibility from Steve Bryant who had held the role as chief administrative officer of Schroders Asia Pacific.
Ms. Wu, who was previously country head, is the first local to be named chairman of Schroders (Taiwan), a spokesperson for the company tells Asia Asset Management.
Brian Hsieh, who was Ms. Wu’s deputy in her former post, has been promoted to country head.
The appointments were effective January 2.
“Francine has been instrumental in building solid relationships with the government, industry, and clients. Her promotion will further strengthen Schroders’ business in Taiwan and on a group level,” the spokesperson says.
Ms. Wu, who has worked at Schroders Group since 1995, became the Taiwan country head in 2001.
She is also a director of the Securities Investment Trust and Consulting Association (SITCA), the industry group on the island.
Schroders (Taiwan) had NT$55.35 billion (US$1.84 billion) of assets under management as of November 2019, according to figures from SITCA.
