US bond management giant Pacific Investment Management Co, or Pimco, has appointed Adrian Stewart as head of client management for Asia Pacific ex-Japan.
He will oversee the company’s client managing function for Asia ex-Japan and Australia, Kimberley Stafford, Pimco’s managing director and head of Asia Pacific, says in a statement on January 21, when the appointment became effective.
“He will deepen penetration across the firm’s product suite including alternatives, Asia credit and [environmental, social and governance],” she adds.
Pimco says Michael Thompson, who is head of Asia ex-Japan client management, will continue in this role, focusing on clients in markets including China, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Asia, South Korea and Taiwan.
Mr. Stewart, who was Pimco’s head of Australia and New Zealand before the appointment, will still be responsible for client-facing relationships in those countries in his new role.
He will relocate from Australia to Pimco’s Hong Kong office, and continues to report to Ms. Stafford.
Mr. Stewart joined Pimco in 2014 from Australian investment bank Macquarie, where he was head of wholesale distribution, marketing and product management.
Pimco had US$1.91 trillion of total assets under management as of December 2019.
