Northern Trust Corporation has appointed Michael Buzza as global head of network management and market strategy to oversee traditional securities services markets for its new digital assets and financial markets group.
Buzza joined the US custodian bank in 2011 as network management vice president. He was most recently head of market advocacy and innovation research for Europe, Middle East and Africa.
“Michael’s role will be key to the ongoing management of our market-facing relationships across both traditional and digital markets,” Justin Chapman, Northern Trust’s global head of digital assets and financial markets, says in a statement on September 21.
The digital assets and financial markets group was established in June to unify the company’s digital and traditional market functions across its asset services. The group primarily provides multi-asset class solutions to asset managers and owners.
Chicago-based Northern Trust had US$13.7 trillion of assets under custody or/and administration as of June 2022.
