Australia’s CareSuper has hired Michael Dundon as chief executive officer to succeed Julie Lander, who announced in August that she was stepping down after helming the A$18.5 billion (US$12.62 billion) superannuation fund for more than 21 years.

Lander will remain as CEO of the super fund for managerial, administration and service occupations until March 2023 when Dundon takes over officially, CareSuper says in a statement on November 2.

Dundon was CEO of Vic Super for almost a decade until its 2020 merger with Aware Super, a super fund for the education, healthcare and public service sectors. He is currently an executive consultant at the merged Aware Super.

“As a proven superannuation leader, our members will benefit from his work to continue to grow CareSuper to be Australia’s leading challenger fund to the mega funds, offering Australians a diversity of fund sizes in the national interest.” CareSuper Chair Linda Scott says in the statement.
