Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr has appointed Mario Imperial Molina to the board of trustees of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), according to a report in the Phil Star Global.

Citing Communications Secretary Cheloy Garafil, the January 19 report says Molina will be an acting trustee until he signs the appointment letter. The date of signing has not been determined yet.

It’s not clear who he will replace on the GSIS board of trustees, which now comprises ten members led by Chairman Lucas Bersamin, the former Chief Justice of the Philippines.

GSIS, which manages retirement savings of civil servants, had 1.53 trillion pesos (US$28.04 billion) of assets under management as of end-June 2022. The pension fund has more than 2.2 million members.
