The International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank, has appointed Anna Ng as regional head of operations for East Asia and the Pacific, as well as head of its Hong Kong office.

She takes over from Hester DeCasper, who became regional head of operations for Europe earlier this year.

Ng will be responsible for strategy formulation, facilitation, and oversight of investment and advisory programmes in the regional head role, the IFC says in a statement on September 19. And as head of the Hong Kong office, she will work with regional investment and advisory teams to help drive cross-border investments and capital mobilisation in the city.

Ng, a former senior official at the Monetary Authority of Singapore, joined the IFC in 2017 and was most recently its senior country officer for Brunei, Malaysia and Singapore.

“Having someone of Anna’s calibre leading our operations in the region and driving our work in Hong Kong SAR is critical to our mission to end extreme poverty and promote shared prosperity,” Kim-See Lim, the IFC’s regional director for East Asia and the Pacific, says in the statement.
