The Guardians of NZ Superannuation, manager of the NZ$65 billion (US$39.77 billion) NZ Super, has appointed Paula Steed as acting chief executive as it searches for a permanent replacement for Matt Whineray, who is leaving on December 8.
Steed takes on the role on top of her position as general manager for strategy and shared services, NZ Super says in a statement on December 5.
The search for Whineray’s replacement is still ongoing and an appointment is expected to be made by the end of the month, according to Catherine Drayton, chair of the Guardians.
Steed joined the Guardians in July 2021 as general manager for finance and investment operations from ASB Bank, and was appointed to the strategy and shared services role a year later.
