Thailand’s securities regulator has tightened regulations for initial coin offerings (ICO) to improve investor protection.

Among other things, ICO issuers will now be required to disclose their mechanisms for checks and balances, as well as their measures to prevent and manage conflicts of interests, the Securities Exchange and Commission Thailand (SEC) says in a statement on April 17.

Issuers will also have to follow specific advertising rules, such as providing appropriate warnings about investment risks and avoid giving guiding characteristics of investments or return guarantees.

The new rules took effect on April 16.
