Hong Kong’s stock exchange has hired Lilian Cheng from Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation as chief compliance officer.

She succeeds Adam Singer, who is leaving next month to explore other opportunities, Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX) says in a statement on April 18.

Her appointment is effective May 1 and she will report to Chief Executive Officer Bonnie Chan.

Cheng will be responsible for compliance functions across HKEX in Hong Kong, China and internationally, as well as continue to advance its compliance practices.

She worked in various senior roles at HSBC over the past ten years, most recently as global head of capital and behaviours enterprise risk management.
