Vietnamese asset manager VinaCapital Fund Management has appointed Alex Hambly as its new chief investment officer to succeed Andy Ho, who passed away last month.

Hambly has more than 30 years of global investment experience and has worked at Barclays Bank, Eastspring Investments and HSBC, VinaCapital says in a statement on July 22.

Currently a member of the investment committee of one of VinaCapital’s funds, he will be based in Ho Chi Minh City for the new role.

According to Hambly’s LinkedIn profile, he was CIO for private equity at Eastspring Investments from 2010 to 2019. He listed his most recent roles as a mentor at Harvard Kennedy School and University of Zurich, senior adviser at Singapore-based multi-family office Aglaia Investment Management, and adviser at British International Investment.

VinaCapital had over US$2 billion of assets under management as of end-2023.
