UK asset manager Janus Henderson Group is buying an unspecified majority stake in Chicago-based Victory Park Capital Advisors to beef up its private lending capabilities.
The US firm, which manages US$6 billion of assets, specialises in asset-backed lending, including small business and consumer finance and real estate credit, complementing the $36.3 billion of securitised assets that Janus Henderson manages globally, the London-based asset manager says in a statement announcing the deal on August 12.
The company did not disclose how much it’s paying for the stake, saying only that it will be in cash plus shares, and that the deal is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter.
According to Janus Henderson, Victory Park complements its “highly successful securitised credit franchise and expertise in public asset-backed securitised markets, and further expands the company’s capabilities into the private markets for its clients”.
Janus Henderson had $361 billion of assets under management as of June 2024.
