Chicago-based private credit manager Monroe Capital has opened an office in Australia, its second outside the US after South Korea.
The company has hired Galen Fu from Hines Investment Management as director of business development for the new office, located in Sydney. Fu was director of the capital markets team at Hines Investment Management, a US property investment firm.
“We look forward to continued growth and expansion in Australia,” Zia Uddin, president of Monroe, says in a statement on February 5 announcing the new office and Fu’s appointment. “In recent years, Australian investors have shown increased interest and appreciation for the Monroe platform and the private credit asset class.”
The company opened its first overseas office in Seoul, the South Korean capital, in 2021.
Monroe Capital had US$20.3 billion of assets under management as of January 2025.
