Japan’s Sumitomo Mitsui DS Asset Management (SMDAM) has formed a partnership with Australian capital advisory Axius Partners to enhance its product distribution in Australia.
Syndey-based Axius primarily provides fund sales, marketing and advisory services to global fund managers. Through the partnership, SMDAM will initially offer its global equity and Japanese equity strategies to local institutional and wholesale investors in Australia.
The Japanese manager says it seeks to achieve long-term growth through its dedication to active management, and the partnership with Axius signifies an “exciting chapter” for the firm.
“Our commitment to active management and uncovering market inefficiencies through disciplined investment approaches aligns perfectly with the needs of Australian investors,” Yasuhiro Harada, executive officer of international business department at SMDAM, says in a statement on March 14.
Tokyo-based SMDAM has around US$148 billion of assets under management.
