Monroe Capital LLC, a US private debt manager, has opened its first office in Asia in South Korea, headed by asset management veteran Alex Kim who was previously with Aberdeen Standard Investments.
His official title is head of Asia and he will oversee Monroe Capital’s institutional business in the region, the company says in a statement on September 14.
“Over the last few years, we have seen more and more interest in the Monroe platform from Korean and Asian investors. This is a great opportunity to expand our footprint in this region,” President and Chief Executive Officer Ted Koenig says in the statement.
Kim, who has over 20 years of experience in asset management and banking, was previously managing director of Korea and head of Southeast Asia Institutions at Aberdeen Standard Investments.
Chicago-based Monroe Capital has US$10.3 billion of assets under management currently.
